Biosketch
Luis Alberto García was born in Monterrey, Mexico, in 1981. He has an M.A and a Ph.D. from Southern Methodist University, and a B.A. in history from Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. He is currently a history professor at Universidad de Monterrey. He specializes in borderlands, particularly in northeastern Mexico and Texas, which is a topic he explores in his book "Guerra y Frontera: el Ejército del norte entre 1855 y 1858" (2006) and in several publications on warfare culture. In 2018 he won the 17th Atanasio G. Saravia Prize in the professional research category. His most recent book, Frontera Armada: Prácticas militares en el noreste histórico, siglos XVII al XIX was published in 2021 by Fondo de Cultura Económica. Since 2021, Luis García has been a member of the national research system (SNI).
