Biosketch
Rafael Ibarra Garza is a Mexican lawyer; he studied law at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (with honors). Afterwards, he studied a master’s degree (magna cum laude) and a PhD (summa cum laude) in Private Law from the French institution Université Panthéon-Assas Paris II. The PhD thesis is entitled "La protection du patrimoine fiduciaire-trust fund” and obtained various accolades. Mr. Ibarra Garza is a consolidated academic at the Universidad de Monterrey: professor, researcher and conference speaker mainly on trust, property law and legal research methodology. Within his academic experience, he has lectured at the University of Oxford, Max Planck Institute, KU Leuven and Université Panthéon-Assas Paris II. Among his publications that stand out there are his papers published in the journal Trust & Trustees of the University of Oxford, his books at the publisher house of the Université Panthéon-Assas, Tirant Lo Blanch and LGDJ. He has been a visiting professor at various universities in France, Belgium, and the Dominican Republic. He is a member of the Board of Advice of the Young Property Lawyers Forum and a researcher at the Ius Commune Research School in the Netherlands. Professor Ibarra Garza has served external law consultant for law firms, Dean of the Law Faculty of the Universidad de Monterrey and Director of Higher Education of the State of Nuevo León. Now he’s a full time professor of the School of Law, of the Universidad de Monterrey.
